Hare street
Showing Omni, a multi outlet shop which was originally occupied for many years by Robinson Taylor furniture shop, it was them who rebuilt the primises around 1959-60 . The shop has also been a Finefare and a Tesco supermarket and in later years was also a shop called Electromode Selling domestic white goods) .. It is currently (2013) trading as a branch of the British heart foundation charity shop, selling old furniture.. Next door is Bejam the frozen food shop.
1930.. Hare street.. Woolworths
This was the original form of the store, It was revamped in 1963
Very early view of Hare street before it was widened
The Pub, EJ Rose was established in 1888 and is still there today although it was rebuilt in 1928 .. The building on the right where the three gents are standing would have been an outfitters stored called Thompson and Jackson which was cleared in the late 1920's to make way for the current property which was built for Burtons tailors. I am not sure if the flags are decorating the streets for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902 or Kinge George VI in 1911

The roof corner still has the remains of its original clock which has not worked for many years. JJ has now vacated this property. copyright Chris Mansfield
