At the time of writing, ( Oct 2013 ) Greggs had two similar outlets in Powis St.. This one had just been refurbished and was opened on the date of this picture. The 'Greggs' shop was originally built in 1896 as a shop for Harris sewing machines and perambulators. Harris closed in 1961 and in November 1962 after some rebuilding to the front , opened as a branch of Singer , selling sewing machines and other domestic electrical goods such as fridges, washing machines etc etc In the 1980s number 64 was a branch of Salisburys ladies fashion.
The address was the location of Sidney Ross back in the early 60s when the corner of Powis street was rebuilt .. The current facade dates from 2009.
During the rioting of August 8th 2011 this shop, a mens fashion store called Blue inc was burned down.. It was a branch of Rumbelows in the 1980s
