This row of shops was built in 1882 just after Hare st had been widened. The upper part of of number 50 Powis street, Charles dance, retains it's original form the next three buildings were re faced in the 1960s. The shop occupied by 7th Sun in this picture was once Hedley Vicars butchers.. The "AC DC" mini market is the spot where a Maynards sweet shop stood during the 60s... Before Charles Dance , Number 50 Hare street used to be the premises of Alf Harley & Sons, mens outfitters.. I am still trying to find out exactly when Charles Dance began trading.. Does anyone know ?? copyright Chris Mansfield
